Cookie policy
Last updated 7 November 2026 · Version 1.0
The short version
- We use a few cookies to keep you signed in, keep the site secure, and remember your cookie choice.
- We only use analytics cookies if you say yes. Until you choose, none are loaded.
- You can change your choice at any time: .
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, which keeps small amounts of data on your device. This policy calls all of them "cookies" unless it says otherwise.
2. The cookies we use
| Cookie | What it does | Type | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Keeps you signed in to your account. | Necessary | While you stay signed in |
ascent_consent | Remembers your cookie choice. | Necessary | 12 months |
ascent_turnstile_session | Remembers that you passed the bot check on the tools that use AI, so you aren't asked again straight away. | Necessary (security) | 1 hour |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics. Counts visits and shows which pages and features are used. | Analytics (only if you accept) | Up to 2 years |
We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. Local storage and your drafts
The free tools save your resume drafts, your interview history and your light or dark mode choice in your browser's local storage, so they are still there when you come back. That data stays on your device until you clear it. It is sent to us only when you use a feature that needs it, such as exporting a PDF or using an AI feature.
4. Third parties
Some services set their own cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile runs the bot check on the AI tools. If you choose "Sign in with Google" or go to a payment page, those providers' own cookie rules apply to their cookies.
5. Your choices
- Our banner. When you first visit, you can accept or reject analytics cookies. Change your answer any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
- Your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. If you block necessary cookies, signing in and other core features won't work.
- Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends this signal, we treat it as a request to reject optional cookies.
- Do Not Track. There is no common standard, so we don't act on it separately.
- If you're signed in, we keep a record of your cookie choice (what you chose, when, and which version of this policy) and include it in your data export.
6. Changes
If we change the cookies we use, we'll update this page and, where required, ask for your consent again.
